Bill Clinton (1997-2001), George W. Bush (2001-2005), focuses on mapping the contents of the New York Times using every headline where the name of each president appears. Between 1997 and 2005, there are approximately six thousand headlines in the Times that directly refer to these presidents by name. These headlines are isolated and color-coded according to subject. These subjects are listed on a color-coded key. The result becomes two large-scale drawings, functioning as comprehensive, minutely detailed portraits of Clinton and Bush’s presidencies. This project is part of an ongoing work that will ultimately cover ten presidents over fifty years.
