Stated Reasons For War, 1898/2003 contains two enlarged sheets of microfilm from the New York Times. These two sheets state President McKinley’s reasons for going to war against Spain in 1898 and President Bush’s reasons for going to war against Iraq in 2003. Each panel contains the president’s speech to the American people as military operations begin. Everything is excised from the speech except for the specific reasons for going to war.
