This work examines the role of the United States as the world’s policeman using text from the New York Times as stated by politicians, policymakers, and writers. Text that states the US should be the world’s policeman are highlighted in a darker blue, text where the US role as the global policeman is ambiguous are highlighted in a lighter blue, and text where the belief is the US should not be the world’s policeman are highlighted in the lightest shade.
